access to career advancement programs, or who choose the guided
independent study method of learning to achieve career education
goals.
Founding Philosophy
Al-Qasim University was established to alleviate the unique
problems faced by mature adults with family and career responsibilities
who desire to earn baccalaureate and graduate degrees in business
administration & computer science but are unable to do so at traditional
institutions. Often , this is due to fixed academic calendars,
class schedules inconsistent with their needs, and the difficulty
in commuting to distant campuses. In developing and implementing
its curricula, Al-Qasim University has recognized the following
factors for its distance learning or online programs:
(1) College level education by correspondence instruction
is an efficient and effective method of attaining educational
goals when proven methods of guided, independent instruction are
utilized.
(2) Curricula should be designed to fit the needs of the students
and should be reviewed frequently and updated as necessary to
remain current with emerging business practices.
(3) Quality education programs require competent administrative
leadership and qualified, experienced faculty in each of the instructional
programs.
(4) The primary focus of the University will always be to
respond to the needs of the students and to ensure that the students
have the very best opportunity to learn skills that they need
to succeed in their chosen career .
(5) Continual review of the effectiveness of the educational
programs and individual student progress must be carried out to
determine if the educational goals of the University and the students
are being achieved.
(6) Learning is an active, life-long process; experiencing
success is essential to the learning process and dialogue between
faculty and student can be a catalyst to learning.
